Life can be very challenging! We often juggle many responsibilities - work, relationships, home life and family - leaving us feeling depleted and exhausted. When do we find that all important “me time,” the time to take a breath and put ourselves first? Counselling can provide that space, helping us to untangle the stresses of life and enable us to move forward.

Let me introduce myself: I am Dawn, a counsellor based in Maidstone, Kent. I offer support to individuals and couples facing various personal and emotional challenges. I appreciate that talking to a stranger, in this case a counsellor, about your thoughts and feelings can be extremely daunting, but it can also be incredibly rewarding.

You may wonder why you should talk to a counsellor instead of a friend or relative? Those close to us, often have their own opinions about what we should do. My approach is different; I will work with you to explore your options and support you in making your own choices.

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor (there’s the jargon). This means that I trained in an approach that puts you, the client, at the very centre of our relationship. You are the expert on you, and I will support you in finding new meaning and a greater understanding of who you are. Together, we will unravel the difficulties you are facing.

I have sat in the client’s chair and know the feelings that can arise. I have felt overwhelmed with sadness and pain, and I never thought I would feel happiness again. On top of this, I experienced intense loneliness and did not know who to turn to. This led me to the work I now do- who better to understand what you may be going through than someone who has been in a similar position?

I primarily, but not exclusively, support my clients with anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship problems, family difficulties and life challenges. I can help you understand why you may act in the way you do by exploring your childhood experiences, and attachment style, which can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself.

Sessions are available face to face, via Zoom, or telephone. I provide a comprehensive approach to working through emotional and psychological challenges and offer a safe, confidential space to explore your feelings without judgment. I bring respect, humour, and above all, warmth and empathy, allowing you to feel safe enough to share what you are experiencing.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
